Meet Martha

“We must be willing to give up the life we’ve planned, so we can live the life that’s waiting for us.” – Joseph Campbell
I am a proud mom, adventurer, wellness and spiritual junkie. I am eternally optimistic, high energy, fiercely driven, and deeply committed to my own personal growth. It is my passion to make a positive difference in the lives of others. I believe we all have the ability to truly flourish, and that this comes from living life fully aligned with our deepest commitments and attending to the health of the mind, body and spirit.
For as long as I can remember, I have aspired to light up the lives of others. The call to coach came many years ago during my 15 year career at Capital One when I had the opportunity to participate in a program called Sportsmind. It was part leadership training, personal development, communication, team building , wellness, nature. It was mind, body and spirit and I knew right then I wanted to be a coach. As life would have it, I took a few detours first, to include becoming an entrepreneur, restauranteur, personal fitness trainer, teaching 3rd, 4th & 5th grade math, directing the admissions efforts for a small liberal arts school, and other various small business pursuits.
“Our battered suitcases were piled on the sidewalk again; we had longer ways to go. But, no matter, the road is life.” – Jack Kerouac
It is easy to tell you about my career accomplishments, because I set out from an early age determined to be just that – accomplished. But no matter how many boxes I checked, there was something missing, a hole in my chest. For a while I determinedly set out to fill that hole with career success, geography change, busyness, fitness pursuits, marriage, building a dream home, and ultimately a myriad of other unhealthy choices.
“Let it go. Then see what kind of magic returns in its place. Because, I promise that what’s for you will never reach you while you’re clinging to something else.” – April Green
Finally, I hit a bottom which spawned a journey to a life beyond my wildest dreams. It was a journey of deep self-inquiry, yoga, meditation, identifying my deepest core values and aligning my actions accordingly. I sought out teachers and surrounded myself with like-minded people willing to share their experience, strength and hope. Most of my biggest breakthroughs on the journey to fulfillment came through great coaching. This helped cement my mission to help others, especially those who long for clarity and transformation.
My coaching incorporates all of the skills I’ve been learning and practicing for the last 25 years as well as formal training through the Human Potential Institute. I’m also lucky enough to partner with two brilliant colleagues to deliver workshops and create products to support transformation. All of the experiences, bumps in the road and life-lessons above have contributed to my passion for working skillfully with core values, strengths, meaning and purpose, mindfulness and the wisdom of the body as essential pathways to realizing one’s greatest personal and professional potential.
There is an old maxim that says that if you want to learn, teach. The people I have the opportunity to coach are the greatest teachers I could have hoped to find in this life and coaching is one of the greatest gifts.
Martin Seligman defines flourishing as having:

“We all have our own life to pursue, Our own kind of dream to be weaving. And, we all have the power to make wishes come true, a long as we keep believing.” – Louisa May Alcott
If you aspire to live your best life, if you want to grow fully into your purpose, if you want to maximize your potential, if you want to flourish, and you are willing and ready to do what it takes, we would be honored to partner with you on the journey.
“If you don’t know where you are going, any road will take you there.” – George Harrison
The first thing we do is explore your goals, why they are important to you and what life will look like when you have achieved them. From there, we partner together to explore, seek clarity and gain new perspective with a combination of approaches and a diverse array of tools and exercises. Next we develop a plan of action, which may include doing, learning or practicing as well as a dose of accountability. It is our promise to do all of this with the strictest of confidentiality, immense compassion and encouragement.
