Embracing Presence and Curiosity: Part of the Magic of Coaching

In my coaching practice and in life, I find so much power in simply being present in the moment and getting curious. Too often, we find ourselves overwhelmed with our to-do lists, meetings, errands, making decisions, taking action, trying to get it all done AND find time for ourselves and our family. I find juggling all of the things becomes much more manageable when we slow down and become aware and immersed in the present moment. The Beauty of Being Present

Imagine a moment where the world slows down, and all that matters is the conversation you’re in. Being present is about immersing ourselves in these moments, giving our undivided attention to the here and now. When we do this for ourselves and/or for the people we are engaging with, real magic happens.

The Wonder of Curiosity

I also LOVE to get curious. If I notice anxiety creeping into my day, I like to pause and get curious. What’s going on? Where am I feeling this in my body? Is it real or a what if? If it is real, what is the next step I can take? What is in my control and not? How can I turn over what is not in my control to God or the Universe?

It is also meaningful to get curious with others – our partners. family members, business associates, friends and as couches, our clients.

With clients…..I love to engage in asking powerful questions – open ended about what is most important to people and why. What would success look like? What is standing in your way? What action steps may be helpful to move forward?

The Art of Active Listening

Active listening is more than just hearing what another person is saying. It’s listening with the intent to understand, without judgment or agenda. And it is reflecting back what we have heard. This not only serves as a check for understanding; it can make the other person feel seen and heard! It’s a powerful way to foster self-awareness and personal growth.

Honoring Our Clients’ Journeys

At the core of our coaching practice is the commitment to honor our clients’ unique journeys.

Tips and strategies are great; but the true power of coaching is to partner with clients to figure out what is most important to them and why. Only then, can we implement the tools and strategies to flourish. By being present, asking insightful questions, practicing active listening, and reflecting back, we create a nurturing environment where clients can discover their own paths to success.
